FRIENDS CUT.

Yeah guys... I'm really sorry, but my flist was WAY out of hand and I had to cut people from it. Really, just a little cut - you won't even feel it.
Nothing personal, I only deleted people that never updated, never commented, or those I didn't really remember who they were.

If you can't see my locked entries, please defriend me right away - and if you think this is a mistake (because I obviously could have made one) let me know in this post.

This tutorial is slightly... Different? Even though I used the same tools as always, something changed while I was creating this and came up with new tweaks for it. Make sure you read the notes, cause it might improve your result if you do so. There are a lot of them cause I noticed the values can change depending on the picture, so PLAY with the numbers, it's fine! (don't go overboard, though - it wouldn't be a tut then!)
I'm sorry I'm not more graphic. I hate screencapping everything, really. And my steps are always quite obvious.
Let's get started >D

1. Crop your image, enhance it however you wish - sharpen, smoothing, etc etc.
2. Duplicate your base, set it to Screen - you need a light image for this tut, so: If you have an image with a lot of white, the screen layer must be at low opacity - or maybe not be, at all! On the contrary, if it's dark, leave it at 100% or 50%. Make it a double screen layer at 100% opacity if the image is TOO dark. Actually, use as many screened layers as you consider necessary.
3. Layer -> Adjustment Layer -> Selective color (of course!):
Reds: -100, 0, 0, +100
Yellows: 0, 0, -100, 0.
Cyans: +100, +100, -100, -100
Whites; -100, 0, +100, +100. NOTE: If your image goes an UGLY shade of yellow, leave this last value (Black) at 0.
Neutrals: +100, 0, -10, 0
Black: 0, 0, 0, +100 NOTE: If you have a lot of black in your image and this variation screws it up, leave it at 0.
4. Layer -> New fill layer -> #f4cddb. Set it to Soft Light %100.
5. Layer -> New Adjustment Layer -> Curves
First Point:
Input: 69
Output: 37
Second point:
Input: 167
Output: 180
6. New adjustment layer-> Hue/Saturation - NOTE: This layer is 100% custom, which means, I'm gonna use this to make certain colors pop out in my picture, and make other colors a little greyer. If you have a lot of red and would like it to be less, then your value should be negative. If you have little cyan and would like it to shine more, then you should use a value over +50. These are the values I used on Miyavi:
Reds: 0, +30, 0
Yellow: 0, -100, 0
Cyans: 0, +40, 0
Feel free to tweak them as you wish.
5. These next steps will need to be more graphic. But if you pay attention you'll pull it off: Create a new color fill layer, with any color you want. On my icon, I used #d3ea96. Set this layer to Darken %100. I know it looks ugly, but we only need the edges. With the elliptical marquee, select a circle on this color layer, and cut it off.
6. Duplicate your base and drag it to the top. Edit->Fill->Black.
7. On the new black layer, you'll need to draw a white circle. To do this, press ctrl+U. On the top menu, select 'Paths' and 'Elipse Tool'. Here:

Draw your circle. It's not going to be your final circle, just the path. Now, select a brush: Soft Round - 1px of Master Diameter. The color must be white. Go to the Paths pannel and click 'Stroke path with brush'. Here:

Now delete the path (Ctrl+P - Right click on the path -> Delete path.)
8. Set the circle layer to screen. Move the layer around and place it wherever you want. Hit ctrl+J to duplicate your layer and get as many white circles as you want. Move them around, play with them. Don't duplicate it too much - less is always more.

This was my base image. Use it as an example of what kind of picture this tutorial works for -it may not give the same results on ALL pictures. ;D

Fase One: Coloring

1. Duplicate base and screen it to 100%. This should brighten it a lot... Looks better, no?
2. Create a Selective Color Layer (Layer->New Adjustment Layer->Selective Color). Insert these values:
Reds: Cyan -100; Magenta 0%; Yellow +100%; Black +100%.
Yellows: Cyan +100%; Magenta 0%; Yellow -100%; Black 0%.
Neutrals: Cyan +50%; Magenta 0%; Yellow -21%; Black 0%.
Blacks: Cyan +100%; Magenta 0%; Yellow -14%; Black 0%.
Hit 'OK'.
3. Create a Hue/Saturation layer (Layer->New Adjustment Layer-> Hue/Saturation). Insert these values:
Reds: Hue +10; Saturation +38; Lightness +31.
Yellows: Hue 0; Saturation -100; Lightness 0.
Greens: Hue 0; Saturation -100; Lightness 0.
Cyans: Hue 0; Saturation +57; Lightness 0.
Hue 0; Saturation +5; Lightness +24.
Magentas: Hue 0; Saturation -100; Lightness 0.
Whatever happens, do NOT modify Master. It just screws the subtlety of your work.
Hit OK.
4. Create a new fill layer (Layer->New fill layer->Solid color). Use #fbd0d0. Set it to 'Color Burn' and the opacity to 50%. This should keep the skin from turning blue.
5. Create a new Curves layer (Layer->New adjustment layer->Curves). Insert these values:
Channel RGB: First point Input 206; Output 216.
Second point Input 76; output 83.
Third point Input 48; Output 41.
Channel Green: First point Input 163; Output 167.
Channel Blue: First point Input 128; Output 117.
Hit OK.

You're done with the coloring... And your pic should look something like this:

Now, moving on to the second fase.

Fase Two: Ornamenting.

1. Flatten all the adjustment layers and duplicate your now colored base. Fill the second layer with whatever color you wish (Edit->Fill->Color...).
2. Select the Eraser tool and pick Hard Round shape for it. Resize it to about 150 and erase the second layer in circles (change the shapes to make it look like bubbles!). Make sure the parts you like better from the bottom image are visible.
3. Pick whichever brush you like best to shape the eraser and make borders around the circles.
4. Insert text. If you want it to be 'squishy': I used 'arial black', toggled the Character and Paragraph palletes and set the leading to -140. This pulls your letters together... You can use less or more, to have them separated.
5. Drop shadow under your text. I set the opacity to 100%, the size to 0 and the distance to 1 or 2 (it depends). To color it, I choose the same color I used for the text, but darker.

That's it! It's 8:am and I spent here all night long... Sorry if some things are missing or if it's not 'visual' enough.
